Soil Testing for Construction

Our soil testing for construction capabilities include all of the tests normally required to satisfy project requirements. Our soil tests for foundations can help evaluate materials for use on projects including determining degree of plasticity, particle size to 1 micron, swell potential, and classification.

Our laboratory is AASHTO Accredited to perform Proctors to determine the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of soils and soil/aggregate mixtures for use in embankments, for pavement support, or general construction fill.

WesTest soil testing for construction can determine a material’s ability to support a load by performing swell-consolidation testing for foundation design or Resistance R-Value or California Bearing Ratio tests for pavement design.

We perform specialized soil tests for foundations and design chemically stabilized subgrade, including: lime treatment, cement treatment, and fly ash treatment.

Some of our soils tests include:

  • Gradation
  • Proctor compaction, maximum dry density
  • Atterberg limits
  • Relative Density
  • Sand equivalent
  • pH
  • Water Soluble Sulfates
